Tradesman

Intriguing sixth-plate occupational ambrotype of an interesting looking man posed in his work clothes.   He has added a little class with a tie, which was tucked into his shirt to prevent any damage. There is something attached to the long ribbon tied around his neck but, unfortunately, it is tucked away in his waistband.  We are curious about his trade as he could be a wood worker, a shipbuilder or a mason; however, we are perplexed by the long tool in his left hand.  We have seen similar ship building tools for long shaping. He also holds an odd-shaped trowel or putty knife in his right hand. If anyone has a suggestion please let us know.  The image is in very good minus condition. We see a little “swirling” in the background with some light green hue at the top. We are sure this original to the process and it adds an interesting effect for us. The image is housed in a full case.
